Summer Internship with Charan Singh Archives

Charan Singh Archives (CSA) is the only authentic source on the life and ideas of Chaudhary Charan Singh (1902-87) a former Prime Minister of India and an organic agrarian intellectual.

CSA has 1 full-time internship position for 2 months (June-July 2024) with a monthly allowance of Rs. 15,000 plus travel reimbursement by public transport.

Outstanding candidates who perform well in this summer internship can expect to continue part-time through the year.

The role of the intern is two-fold:

  • extract news and photographs from the 1930s to 1975 from major newspapers and newsmagazines in Delhi NCR related to Chaudhary Charan Singh’s life and career in Uttar Pradesh. These materials will be found at the archives of individual newspapers/magazine, and at the Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) library in Teen Murti, Delhi
  • Transcribe audio interviews in either English or Hindi

Eligibility

Must have

  1. Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology or Anthropology from a premier college in Delhi.
  2. Outgoing, engages comfortably with strangers
  3. Good communicator in English and Hindi.
  4. Self-driven with the ability to get things done.

Preferable

  1. Knowledge of the political history and political economy of Northwest India and an interest in agriculture and rural India.
