This award is an honour for the countryside and the farming community, who considered Singh to be their voice due to the alternative model of development that he presented. In a way, Chaudhary Charan Singh can be called a scholar politician and this is what makes him special. Apart from this, he was also a skilled administrator. He was the main architect of the Zamindari Abolition Act and Land Reforms Act in Uttar Pradesh and along with that, he also played an important role in implementing it.
