In Bareilly jail, for 1 year, during the Individual Satyagraha movement

In November, he was imprisoned for one year during the Individual Satyagraha movement. He was initially kept in Meerut Central Jail, then in Bareilly Central Jail, and was released in October 1941. He wrote "Shishtachar," a series of letters to his children from prison, discussing good breeding and manners. 

He remained the General Secretary and President of the Meerut District Congress Committee until 1946.
