Charan Singh starts work towards a stronger all-India democratic party, holds meetings with the Swatantra Party

Not wishing to repeat the political disaster of the SVD, Charan Singh had started speaking enthusiastically of an all-India democratic political unit composed of parties opposed to the Congress, communalism and communism. A meeting was conducted on June 15 between representatives of the Swatantra Party and the BKD and this subject was breached, but the parties could come to no clear agreement and talks were temporarily suspended.
