One of the key objectives of the Charan Singh Archives (CSA) is to re-publish books, speeches, articles and political party manifestos crafted by Chaudhary Charan Singh in his lifetime. He was a meticulous record keeper, prolific author and communicator. His family has donated over 200,000 pages of these documents, as well as thousands of images, videos and books, to the Prime Ministers Museum and Library in New Delhi.

CSA is in the process of re-publishing selected books written on his life and ideas by his many political associates and some academics who studied him deeply during and after his lifetime. In the coming years, we propose to publish collections of his speeches in legislative bodies in Uttar Pradesh and Parliament, the manifestoes of his political parties, his writing in news media, the scores of legislative actions he shepherded, the thousands of personal and official letters. These publications are a monumental task, one CSA shall complete in this decade.

We bring to the nation his significant body of work, from the 1930s till his passing in 1987, as a coherent and uniquely Indian worldview. He was an organic rural intellectual, voicing an alternate view of India’s development that is rooted in the uniquely Indian problems of a large agrarian population on limited land, widespread poverty, inequality, unemployment and underemployment, corruption and the curse of caste.
