1987 05 24 "Mulyankan" : A Tribute to Charan Singh

25 May 1987

While the general public is filled with deep sorrow after the death of a politician, the process of his evaluation also begins. Evaluating someone is not an easy task and it becomes even more difficult when a great personality dies. The fifth Prime Minister of India, Chaudhary Charan Singh passed away on Friday. He was elected for the first time from Chhaprauli for the UP Assembly in 1931 to 1937 and for the first time in 1946, he got a place in the UP Council of Ministers. After India's independence, as a parliamentary secretary, he served in many councils of ministers and was also the Chief Minister twice. In 1977, Chaudhary sahab came to Delhi as the Home Minister of Uttar Pradesh. After that he became the Finance Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and finally the Prime Minister. One issue on which all his critics and supporters are unanimous is his honesty and his dedication.
