BKD agreed on a timely update to their 1971 manifesto, keeping in mind and while the larger economic and social concerns remained the same, viz., a focus on the rural-agrarian; matters of persistent national concern were appended to the list. As many states had suffered from the Centre’s overreach into their internal politics, increasing the autonomy of states and enlarging their jurisdiction was seen as an important demand to balance Centre-state relations.
